JOHN HYSHKA

ADVISOR

John founded Hyshka + Associates in 2016 with a mission to assist companies in developing strategic plans and governance structures, raise capital, and conduct corporate development and licensing activities. He has clients ranging from food processors, natural product companies, biotechnology, medical device and technology platform companies, as well as ventures in the mining and manufacturing sectors.

John has held CFO and other C-suite leadership positions in the life science industry for over 20 years. He has raised millions of dollars in Canada for different small to medium sized companies in the agriculture, medical device, and therapeutics industries. He has successfully negotiated and closed many licensing deals.

In his early career, John spent over 10 years in economic development, leading the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority and working with the government of Saskatchewan in their economic development branch. With this experience John helps companies work with all levels of government, applying for programs and incentives.

He has sat on several boards, including Business Development Bank of Canada, SaskPower, The Saskatchewan Government Growth Fund, Saskatchewan Nutraceutical Network, Saskatchewan Trade and Export Program, Economic Developer’s Association of Canada, Biotec Canada’s Emerging Company subcommittee, and he Chaired AgWest Bio Inc.’s board for five years.

John is currently the Chair of HCC Group, a private company in the mining industry. He is a director for a Microbe DX, a medical device company. He is also a director with the Saskatchewan Fruit Growers Association.

He is currently volunteer Chair of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Football Foundation.

John grew up on a farm near Paynton Saskatchewan. He graduated from North Battleford Comprehensive High School in 1982 and the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1987.
